 Procter was conceived on October 8th of 1968. William Procter, an obstetrician was the one who adopted her when she was a baby and Barbara Jones, a volunteer worker. Procter was raised in Raleigh.  Ravenscroft School was where Procter went to school in Raleigh. While at East Carolina University, Procter was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Procter was a TV anchor for the news channel WNCT in Greenville, North Carolina. After graduation, she earned diplomas in dance and journalism.
